Parker Johnston has been tapped to represent Ontario in the Canadian Junior Nationals even in Silverstar BC.

The Canadian Jr. National Freestyle Ski Championships brings together Canada’s best and brightest athletes to compete for national titles in the disciplines of moguls, dual moguls, air, big air and slopestyle. They consider this event to be the “jewel" in their Canada Cup events crown and look forward to seeing strong new talent emerge from our coaches and athletes every year. This year, they are very proud to introduce the new U14 combined category. The U14’s will compete in moguls, dual moguls, slopestyle, big air, and the new “Air“ format introduced in 2014. The goal is to support skiers to be more versatile competitors, and ultimately achieve their goals!

Eastern Freestyle A Champs

A Champs
Waterville Valley Ski Resort
Waterville Valley, New Hampshire
March 11

Five FLITE Team athletes; Bubba Antkiewicz, Parker Johnston, Lexi Crotty, Marissa Vasataka and Elissa Cole, qualified to compete in the Eastern Freestyle A Championships. All of the athletes except for Bubba, are in their first year competing in  Eastern Freestyle As.

Waterville Valley Ski Resort hosted the Eastern Freestyle A Championships. Lower Bobby provided the athletes some of the steepest, most challenging mogul course to date. All the athletes embraced the challenge, and had a great time attempting to conquer the 31* pitch, with a long middle section of moguls that made even the best bumpers legs burn!

The Championship event consisted of Singles on Saturday and Duals on Sunday.

Saturday:
FLITE Team was led by Elissa Cole who finished in the Top 10, landing in a tie. Elissa won the Tie Breaker for 9th place as here time was faster than the athlete who tied her score. Marissa Vasataka finished in 18th and Lexi Crotty finished in 25th.

Males were led by Bubba Antkiewicz who finished in 19th, while Parker Johnston ended up in 28th.

Sunday:
Males led the day off competing in their brackets, trying to get in the final 8 from a field of  51. Parker Johnston, ranked 44th, went against 21st ranked Kyle Bell from Mt Snow in his first dual. Parker started the day out on a positive note, advancing to the round of 32. Bubba Antkiewicz kept the momentum going from the 27th spot, skiing against 38th ranked Andrew Klein from the Killington Mountain School.  Bubba advanced to the round of 32 with his victory.
The females saw 17th ranked Elissa Cole run against 16th ranked Kasey Hogg from Killington Mountain School. Elissa was edged out of the duals contest, her role shifted to supporting her teammates that were left in the competition.
Lexi Crotty, ranked 25th, ran against and lost to 8th ranked Jessica Mulder from Stratton Mountain School. Lexi's weekend ended, after her ability to compete was in question late in the week as she battled Strep Throat heading into training on Friday.
Marissa Vasatka was the last lady standing. Marissa, ranked 28th, went against, and lost to, the 5th ranked Savanah Forehand from Stratton Mountain School. While our high flying FLITE girls were grounded, it was time to shift to cheering for the boys left to battle into the round of 16.
Parker squared off against fellow EVL Freestyler Matt DiDinato from Holiday Valley, the 12th ranked dualer. In the end, Parker lost his battle to continue. Bubba faced off against the 6th ranked Cameron Robinson from Killington Mountain School. Bubba lost his dual to the eventual Silver Medalist in the Championship.
